I’m Aunt Carmen, yes, you can call me that. I got my signature name from my numerous nieces and nephews calling, texting, and wanting me to make some type of food for an upcoming event. I come from a background of cooks and bakers and the desire to make things from scratch, is in my genes. My mother and her sisters took pride in preparing food for the family and would stay awake for hours, working tirelessly so others could enjoy their treats. Whether they knew it or not, they have passed the baton and I have grabbed it, as if in a relay race. I have come to love making all types of foods and desserts for family and friends whether it is for a holiday, birthday, or other special occasion, it doesn’t matter, I can’t seem to say NO, I love it!
I am going to share with you cooking techniques and foods made simple for you and your family. As a high school culinary teacher, it gives me great satisfaction to teach what I love doing most. With my recipes, it will NOT take hours to make, it doesn’t cost a fortune and is very basic and tasty. You can’t ask for anything better than that! Sometimes, I might indulge in a recipe that is not as simple, but it will be fine, no stressing intended.
