Patriotic Cake

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-2 drops blue gel food coloring
  • 1-2 drops red gel food coloring


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar until well combined.
  • Add egg whites, vanilla, milk and oil. Mix well.
  • In a large bowl, add dry ingredients, flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk together.
  • Add dry ingredients to the liquid ingredients in the stand mixer.
  • In medium sized bowls, divide cake batter equally into three.
  • Adding one drop of food coloring at a time, in one bowl add one drop of red and mix adding drops to achieve desired color. Repeat the same process with the blue food coloring. Leave the white colored cake batter on the side.
  • In a greased bundt pan, add red cake batter, spreading evenly around the pan.
  • In a greased bundt pan, add red cake batter, spreading evenly around the pan.
  • Lastly, add blue cake batter on top of the white batter, spreading evenly around the pan.
  • Bake in the oven for 35- 45 minutes until the toothpick inserted comes out clean.
