Shrimp and Grits

Ingredients for Grits

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup carnation milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup grits
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese grated

Ingredient for Shrimps

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons thyme
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 15 shrimps cleaned and deveined
  • bacon bits & scallions for garnish


For Grits

  • In a medium sized saucepan on medium flame, add broth, milk, butter and salt.
  • Once boiling, add grits, stir and lower flame.
  • Stir constantly for 15 - 20 minutes until thickened to the consistency of your liking.
  • Remove the saucepan with grits from the stove and stir in the cheese.

For Shrimps

  • In a medium sized bowl, add onion powder, paprika, cayenne, thyme, garlic powder and salt. Mix together.
  • Toss shrimp into seasonings to coat.
  • In a medium sized skillet, add 2 tablespoons of butter. Move butter around the pan to coat the bottom of the pan.
  • Saute shrimps until opaque in color on both sides.
  • Plate cooked grits, garnish with bacon bits, add shrimps and garnish with scallions.
