Turkey Brine

Turkey Brine recipe

Yield: 1 whole turkey
Prep time: 15 minutes
Total time: 35 minutes


2-gallon water (divided)
3/4 c. kosher salt
1 turkey (14- 20 lbs.)
2 onions (large cuts)
2 lemons (peel only)
4 sprigs fresh thyme
4 sprigs fresh rosemary
4 sprigs fresh sage
1 – 1  1/2 bags of ice


  1. In a large stockpot, boil 1 gallon of water.
  2. Add salt and stir.
  3. Using a large cooler, add turkey, boiled salt water, additional water and remaining ingredients.
  4. Using a large spoon, stir until well blended with turkey.
  5. Add ice to cooler and keep in cold place overnight.
