Vanilla Pudding

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk divided in half
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 teaspoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon banana liqueur optional


  • In a medium sized mixing bowl, add sugar, cornstarch and salt. Whisk together.
  • Add ½ of the milk and whisk together.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, butter and optional banana liqueur. Whisk together until blended.
  • In a small saute pot, add egg mixture and slowly pour remaining milk while stirring.
  • Continue to stir until thickened, (should coat the back of spoon) then remove from heat
  • Pour homemade vanilla pudding in a bowl, cover and refrigerate until cooled.
