Wings

Do you want to make something quick on a weekday or weekend? My suggestion is chicken wings, as you can make them in so many different ways. You can make lemon pepper wings, teriyaki wings, barbecue wings, hot wings, sticky wings, baked wings, and of course fried wings. Wings can be made in your air fryer, broiled, baked, deep fried, grilled, stewed and sautéed. As you go through this blog, I will give you a little secret on making three different types of wings while making it one way. Confusing right, but not at all.

Wings are the part of the chicken that has the least amount of meat, so why do so many people enjoy eating this part of the chicken? Maybe, because they are small, people are able to grab them with their fingers and hold each end to devour in seconds. Another reason is, one might not want the light or dark meat of the chicken. What is it that makes chicken wings so popular? I believe it is the skin on the wings, you might think otherwise and that’s fine. The skin of the chicken contains the fat and can become crispy and browned when cooking with high heat and the bones add moisture to your chicken while it is cooking. Be extra careful if you are making boneless chicken wings as they can easily become dried out.

My little secret in making chicken wings in different ways using one main method is by cleaning the wings, pat dry and adding your favorite seasoning to the chicken and to your flour before baking or frying. Place uncooked chicken and flour in a Ziploc bag, if you prefer to have a crispy  skin, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of your flour ratio with baking powder, flour or cornstarch and shake bag, dredge chicken. Place the wings on a cooling rack and place on a baking sheet and pop into your oven for 45 minutes, turning halfway through cooking time.

While your chicken is in the oven, start prepping your ingredients for hot wings, barbecue and sticky wings. For the hot wings, using a sauce pot, add one stick of butter and two cups of hot sauce. Set aside and pour onto the wings when removed from the oven. Next, add your favorite barbecue sauce using pastry brush to spread on top of your baked chicken. The sticky wings, add soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, cornstarch and water and mix together in a sauce pot until thick. Pour onto baked chicken.
